Sunamp wins Institute of Physics (IOP) Business Innovation Award

Sunamp has been awarded the Institute of Physics (IOP) Business Innovation Award, recognising a breakthrough in compact thermal storage that significantly improves heat transfer performance in high flow-rate hot water applications.

The award highlights Sunamp’s development of advanced finned-tube heat exchanger technology, delivering major gains in heat transfer efficiency and energy storage performance for hot water systems.

This recognition adds to Sunamp’s growing list of honours, including The King’s Awards for Enterprise for Innovation and being named a finalist for the MacRobert Award for Engineering.

Sunamp CEO Grant Richardson commented:

“This award is a powerful endorsement of the physics at the heart of our technology. By solving a fundamental challenge in heat transfer, we’ve unlocked new levels of efficiency in thermal storage — now proven in the real world with almost 40,000 Thermino heat batteries installed across the UK, Europe, and North America. As we open our first licensed factory in partnership with Jiangsu Gomon New Energy Co., Ltd to serve the Asia Pacific market, Sunamp is demonstrating how cross-disciplinary innovation in physics, chemistry, and engineering can be successfully commercialised at global scale, delivering real impact for a sustainable energy future.”
